    @KeepDriftingFun Movie Premier

In 2010 we had the pleasure of working with Will Roegge and Josh Herron as they made their way from L.A. across America in a 1974 VW Westy, filming the grass-roots Drifting scene.   Will & Josh are both incredibly talented filmmakers in addition to being really cool guys.  They basically let us do whatever we wanted and told us it was great.  Dream Project!

The film is finished and you can watch it here!

For the project, we created a van wrap design and a T-shirt that featured stick-figure robots readying themselves for war with a giant dinosaur skeleton - of course.  We drew robot after robot, well into the wee hours of the night.

Somewhere along the way, the animal skin windows were added and then killed - thankfully!

Below are a few of the robots that we drew.  In the end, they were all piled on top of each other so you couldn’t necessarily tell where one robot stopped and another robot began.

For local tour promotions we created some ads and posters that used the 70’s-era  hitchhiker’s code; Gas, Grass, or Ass, Nobody Rides For Free.

And when will we ever get to create an upside down logo?  I’m not sure!

More #Hasselblad Test Shots - This Time, Rare Books.

I was in NYC this past weekend, and stopped by Bauman Rare Books.  It’s an amazing place, with many books in the thousands of dollars.  For example, they have a rare 1685 Fourth Folio of Shakespeare’s plays, costing $225,000.  For anyone who appreciates books, Bauman is a gem, and  I can’t say enough kind words about the staff.  Here are some of the shots.

Shooting the plates with the Hasselblad extension tube created some very weird and beautiful effects.  In the shot below, it looks as if the girl is holding on for dear life as the etching washes away.

Most of these books were printed on a letterpress.  The pages are delicate and beautiful.  In this shot, you can see the handwritten letter below the vellum printed sheet.

Testing Out the #Hasselblad on @Kidrobot Toys

I recently bought a Hasselblad and slapped an extension tube on it and started testing it out.  These are some of the test shots of a few little toys.  Needs work.  More to come.  ~Enjoy

k2forma’s New Brand for Bobbin Designs

Over the past few months we’ve had the pleasure of working with Jean Johnson of Bobbin Designs.  She creates hand-sewn cards incorporating incredible materials like feathers, stingray, alligator, and more.  Her stationery is sold in stores across the country.

The former logo for Bobbin Designs was very personal to Jean and had several subtle references to her family.   We were charged with reinventing the logo while building on those personal details.

Jean’s request for her new logo was that it be more dynamic while preserving those personal elements.  She shared some very touching stories about her father and his love for turkey hunting.  He had given her several turkey feathers and a turkey foot which she loaned us for the initial research portion of this process.

We started with several study drawings of feathers and turkey feet.  It wasn’t long before we arrived at what would become her final brand design.

With the logo revision complete, we moved on to a photo shoot and collateral design.

Back side design for post card

Various front side designs for post cards

    And a letterhead design

We are humbled to have had the opportunity to work with such a personal brand.  If you’d like to see more from Bobbin Designs, visit her at http://www.bobbindesigns.com/

Seen & Heard at the Housewares Show in Chicago #IHHS12

The International Housewares Association show was this past weekend in Chicago.  These are some of the snapshots from the event.  Many can speak for themselves.

Lots of bright colors everywhere - in booths and on products.

Dyson’s booth was pretty cool.  The black walls had a series of words emerging from gray to white, that simply spelled out the process of innovation from the start; Wheels, Frustration, Invention, Refinement, Determination, and finally…

    …Balls.  LOVE IT!

um yes, these folks brought an anvil.  to a trade show.  I feel for the poor sucker who has to load & ship that thing.

All in all, it was a fantastic …
